DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the insurance Company. It was founded to provide a stable medical liability environment in Colorado and to create a company overseen by physicians with the interests of the health care community in mind. IT awards grants to nonprofits in Colorado and Nebraska that address healthcare issues. The Foundation provides grants to organizations that focus on quality of care, improving patient safety, reducing medical errors, and improving disease management and transitions in care. Priority is given to activities that are centered on education and training of healthcare professionals; pilot programs designed to improve medicine; and development, implementation, or changes in health-care related systems, tools, and processes that improve outcomes. The Foundation accepts letters of intent throughout the year; the deadline is for proposals. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
