DescriptionThe Foundation is dedicated to transforming public education and the child welfare system so that all youth can learn and achieve in school and life. The Foundation considers itself to be a partner and convener in melding the resources, thinking, and energy necessary to create and sustain systemwide change in California and Washington. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on nonprofits that address the following priorities: education systems and vulnerable youth in child welfare. Grants in the Education Systems category support in coordinated programs, partnerships, and research and policy analysis that help students to learn and achieve in school by developing effective education systems. Grants in the Vulnerable Youth in Child Welfare category partners with child welfare agencies to help children and youth in foster care to realize positive outcomes in the following areas: safety, permanency, well being, education opportunities, and youth, family, and community engagement.
