General Service Foundation

Description

Clifton R. Musser and Margaret Kulp Musser founded and endowed the Foundation. Its focus is on basic long-term problems in three particular areas: international peace, reproductive health and rights, and Western Water. Grants under the international peace category are intended to help advance and strengthen human rights, democratic reform and economic justice in Mexico, Cuba, and Central America. Those under the reproductive health and rights category, seek to preserve, advance, and defend public policies and laws that ensure access to a comprehensive range of reproductive health services to women and adolescents in the United States and Mexico. In the United States, projects of interest address surgical and medical abortion; family planning and contraception; and comprehensive sexuality education. In Mexico the focus is on advocacy for reproductive rights at the national level and building decentralized capacity within the reproductive and sexual rights movement at the state level. The Foundation will be accepting letters of inquiry for the Western water program through 2006, but funding in this field is limited. Here the goal is to protect and restore rivers in the inner mountain West, including the states of Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona. For all areas, applicants may apply online. A letter of inquiry is an option for those without e-mail.
