DescriptionThe Agency’s American Hospitals and Schools Abroad Program provides assistance to schools, libraries, and medical centers outside the United States that serve as study and demonstration centers for American ideas and practices. Program grants help these institutions train future leaders in a wide variety of disciplines, support local and regional infrastructure to foster development, and cultivate positive relationships and mutual understanding among citizens of the United States and other nations. The Program directly contributes to U.S. foreign policy and public diplomacy objectives by fostering democracy, tolerance, and innovation. The Program makes 30-40 new awards per year. These awards support construction, renovation, and the procurement of scientific, medical, and educational equipment. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
