The Joyce Foundation
The Foundation supports the development of policies that both improve the quality of life for people in the Great Lakes and serve as models for the rest of the country. The Foundationís grantmaking supports research into Great Lakes protection and restoration, energy efficiency, teacher quality and early reading, workforce development, gun violence prevention, diverse art for diverse audiences, and a strong, thriving democracy. The Foundation encourages innovation and collaborative approaches with a regional focus and the potential for a national reach. The Great Lakes region, as the Foundation defines it, are the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Several program areas have specific geographic limitations within the Great Lakes region: K-12 education grantmaking focuses on the cities of Chicago, Indianapolis, and Minneapolis/St. Paul. Employment grants focus on federal and state policy with some grants to support targeted metro-level progress in Chicago, Indianapolis, and Minneapolis/St. Paul. Culture grants are primarily provided to organizations in the Chicago metropolitan area. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
