The Academy’s Rome Prize is awarded annually to 30 emerging artists and scholars in the early or middle stages of their careers that exemplify the highest standard of excellence in arts and humanities scholarship. Fellows are chosen from the areas of architecture, design, historic preservation and conservation, landscape architecture, literature, musical composition, visual arts, ancient studies, medieval studies, Renaissance and Early Modern studies, and modern Italian studies. All applicants except those applying for the National Endowment for the humanities postdoctoral fellowship, must be United States citizens at the time of the application. Winners of the six-month and 11-month fellowships receive stipends of $15,000 and $27,000 respectively. The program requires a $30 application fee for one application; $40 for two or more applications. Additional information about the award and application instructions can be found on the Web site.
