Medica Foundation

DescriptionThe Foundation is an affiliate of Medica Health Plans, a Minnesota-based nonprofit HMO. Funding is awarded to nonprofits and government agencies within the Organization’s service area in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Grants are also awarded to organizations in Western Wisconsin in the counties of Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Chippewa, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pierce, Polk, Sawyer, St. Croix, and Washburn. Grants are awarded in the following areas: behavioral health, healthy lifestyles for people with disabilities, early childhood health, and organizational core mission support. During the second round of funding for 2013, the Foundation will only accept letters of inquiry for two categories: Early Childhood Health and Organizational Core Mission. Early Childhood Health grants support programs that focus on healthy families in order to foster optimal growth and development of young children. Organizational Core Mission Support provides small grants for health related-programming to organizations in the regional and rural areas of the Company’s service areas. The Foundation supports activities that serve as incubators for ideas, catalysts for systemic change, and bridges to greater insight, information, and understanding.
