Build-a-bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation
Category: Children, Youth & Families
DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the toy company. It supports nonprofits in the United States and Canada that enhance the quality of life for children, families, and pets. Grants are awarded in the following areas: children’s health and wellness, literacy and education, and domestic pets. Children’s health and wellness grants support childhood disease research foundations, child safety organizations and organizations that serve children with special needs. Literacy and education grants fund books for children and programs that encourage literacy and reading through the use of technology. Domestic pet grants provide support for direct services for animals including spay/neuter expenses, medical expenses, micro-chipping, food, and cages. Although the Foundation prioritizes domestic pet grants for cats and dogs, the program also supports programs that work with horses, birds, rabbits, and reptiles. Additional information including application forms for each of the programs can be found on the Web site.
