Allen Foundation
Category: Health
DescriptionEstablished by agriculture chemist William Webster Allen, the Foundation makes grants to projects that benefit human nutrition in the areas of education, training, and research. Grants are awarded to fund relevant nutritional research, to support programs for pregnant women and infants to form good nutritional habits, to disseminate information regarding healthful nutritional practices and habits, and to assist in educating people to work as teachers and demonstrators of good nutritional practice. In some situations, the Foundation also funds immediate emergency hunger and malnutrition programs. The Foundation will consider requests from hospitals and medical clinics; social, religious, fraternal, or community organizations; private foundations; and K-12 public, parochial or private schools. Preference is given to proposals that include matching funds from the institution or other partners including in-kind contributions. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
