J.m. Kaplan Fund

Category

: Arts & Culture

Description

The Fund’s Furthermore Program supports nonfiction book publishing about the city; art, architecture, and design; cultural history; civil liberties and other public issues of the day; and natural and historic resources. Grants are awarded for writing, research, editing, design, indexing, photography, illustration, and printing and binding. Work should appeal to an informed general audience; give evidence of high standards in editing, design, and production; promises a reasonable shelf life; might not otherwise achieve top quality or even come into being; and represents a contribution without which we would be the poorer. Preference is given to proposals where a university press or trade publisher has already committed and for which there is a feasible distribution plan. The Fund is drawn to, but not limited to, New York City and to New York State and the Hudson Valley. Applicants must be a nonprofit organization. An application form and additional information can be found on the Web site.
