: Social Change

Description

Through its Grassroots Organizing for Social Change program, the Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the ice cream Company, provides support to nonprofit community organizations throughout the United States that bring about progressive social change. The organizations do this by addressing the underlying conditions of societal and environmental problems. The Foundation’s broad goals are to further social and environmental justice and support sustainable and just food systems. In making funding decisions, the Foundation focuses on the types of activities and strategies an organization uses for creating social change. The Foundation will only consider proposals from grassroots, constituent-led organizations that are using direct action, grassroots, community-organizing strategies to accomplish their goals. The Foundation does not make grants to support social services programs. Letters of inquiry are required. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
