DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Corporation and Railroad. The Foundation believes that the quality of life in the communities, in which its employees live and work, is an integral part of its own success. It awards grants to public charities located in communities served by the railroad. Funding areas of interest are community and civic and health and human services. Community/civic grants assist community-based organizations and related activities that improve and enrich the general quality of life in the community including organizations such as aquariums, botanical gardens, children’s museums, history/science museums, public libraries, public television, radio, zoos and other entities. Health and human services grants assist organizations dedicated to improving the level of health care or providing human services in the community. The Foundation only accepts online proposals. The application process for 2014 opens May 1, 2013. Additional information including the areas the Foundation serves can be found on the Web site.
