The Horizon Foundation For New Jersey

DescriptionThe Foundation was launched by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey in honor of the insurance Company’s 70th anniversary. It focuses its grantmaking on health and the arts. Under the health category, the Foundation’s funding priorities are prevention and educational programs for asthma, cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, diabetes, hypertension, and obesity; depression and other mental health screening and treatment programs; health literacy programs; and childhood immunizations. Arts grants are awarded to after school arts education programs; school-based arts education programs; arts exhibits and programs that target a senior audience; and general operating support. Applicants must be located in and serve New Jersey communities and have as their mission to promote health or the arts, well being, and quality of life in New Jersey communities. Grant ranges for health grants are $10,000 to $50,000; for arts funding they range from $10,000 to $20,000. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
