DescriptionThe Foundation exists to help transform the Dan River Region, including the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County, Va., as well as Caswell County, North Carolina. Grants are awarded based on two primary broad factors: a clear link to the Foundation’s mission and four focus areas of education, economic vitality, health and wellness, and community engagement and the organization’s articulation of need and impact. The Foundation supports regional improvement through funding initiatives proposed by others that show potential for significantly impacting present problems by converting them into opportunities for ultimate success. Also of interest are programs and projects that are created by the Foundation to stimulate sustainable progress in the region (done through requests for proposals) and developed because of unanticipated opportunities where Foundation funds, in cooperation with others, can enable productive advances that might otherwise not be attainable.
