DescriptionThe Foundation is focused on advancing energy efficiency and renewable energy policy in the United States and China, the largest and fastest growing energy markets in the world. Foundation partners include ClimateWorks Foundation, Grantham Foundation, Grousbeck Family Foundation, The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, The Kresge Foundation, the McKnight Foundation, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Pisces Foundation, Robertson Foundation, Schmidt Family Foundation, Tilia Fund, TomKat Trust, TOSA Foundation, and Anonymous. The Foundation’s grantmaking programs include support for the following issues: efforts to reduce carbon emissions from the utility industry; policies to increase the energy efficiency of U.S. homes and businesses; policies to put a cap and a price on carbon; and sustainable energy programs in China. The Foundation accepts brief letters of inquiry for applicants who are unsure if their program or project meets the Foundation’s criteria. Otherwise, proposals are accepted on a continuous basis.
