National Endowment For Democracy
Category: International
DescriptionThe Endowment’s objective is to strengthen democratic institutions throughout the world through private, nongovernmental efforts.
It gives priority to projects that promote political and economic freedom, a strong civil society, independent media, human rights and the rule of law in countries around the world. It supports pro-democracy groups in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and the former Soviet Union. The staff is happy to discuss proposal ideas and welcomes preliminary letters of inquiry before submitting formal proposals. Applications are accepted at any time, but are due six weeks before the quarterly board meetings. The Endowment doesn’t fund projects within the domestic United States.
