Description

The Trust’s mini-grants support activities at schools and nonprofits that help promote awareness of and participation in the restoration and protection of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributary rivers and streams. The 2012-2013 mini-grant program for K-12 Environmental Education is designed to engage students and residents in Maryland and Washington DC in activities that raise public awareness and participation in the restoration and protection of the bay and its rivers. The program provides funds to schools, organizations, and agencies for K-12 environmental education and specifically seeks to educate students about the bay and their local watersheds and about how students can make a difference in watershed health. The program also seeks to engage school communities in education and restoration activities that benefit watershed health; provide meaningful watershed education experiences for students and teachers; provide environmental education professional development opportunities for teachers; and support environmental literacy goals with schools, school systems, and other educational institutions. Additional information including an application form can be found on the Web site.
