Description

The Company, a leading education-loan guarantor, will commit $1 million to provide financial assistance to college students in parts of four states affected by recent hurricanes. Eligible postsecondary institutions in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi that are eligible to participate in federal student financial aid programs authorized under Title IV and physically located and serving students in counties listed by FEMA in the “individual assistance” section of Major Disaster Declarations, are eligible to apply. Schools outside of declared disaster areas that are enrolling students who have been evacuated or displaced from institutions in federally declared disaster areas or who have students whose permanent addresses are in federally declared disaster areas are also eligible to apply. Financial aid offices receiving awards will distribute the funds to eligible students to supplement students financial aid packages. An application can be found on the Web site.
