Description

The Foundation, along with International Paper and its Foundation, and the National Geographic Explorer classroom magazine, are funding an Outdoor Classroom grant program for K-12 public schools seeking to develop outdoor learning environments. Learning environments can include butterfly gardens, small ponds, nature trails, and bird sanctuaries. Grants can be used to build a new outdoor classroom or to enhance an existing one. The program will award grants of $2,000 to at least 100 schools. In some cases, grants up to $20,000 may be awarded to schools or school districts with major outdoor classroom projects. Program information and application procedures are available on the Web site.
