Description

The Foundation, the philanthropic effort of the former Disney chairman and CEO Michael Eisner and his family, seeks to give back to the community that has given the Eisner family great opportunity. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on the following areas: children, education, older adults and health care. Grants seek to provide children with the tools they need to attain self-sufficiency and build productive lives. The Foundation invests in access to high-quality public schools through charter school funding and school reform efforts for the Los Angeles Unified School Districts. The Foundation also funds innovative and enriching after-school programs in underserved communities that provide children with access to the academic and athletic opportunities their public schools do not. The Foundation also supports endeavors to give children access to the arts, quality health care options, and new media and technology. For the aging, the Foundation strives to provide lasting change in the lives of older adults, with a special emphasis on those that are especially vulnerable due to poor health or poverty. The Foundation partners with high-performing, nonprofits that advocate on behalf of seniors to provide access to health care, safety in their environments, cultural enrichment and the opportunity to age with dignity. The Foundation exclusively supports organizations in Los Angeles County. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
