DescriptionThe Foundation focuses its grantmaking on New York City community-based, nonprofit organizations, projects, and programs whose missions are of benefit to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) communities in the areas of health care, mental health, social service, substance abuse, community organizing, advocacy, arts, culture, and the media. The Foundation gives priority to innovative projects by organizations responding to unmet needs in the LGBT communities. It will also fund improvement and/or expansion of ongoing programs and projects of proven value to the community. Preference is given to projects and programs that support adolescents and young adults, seniors, people of color, and people living outside of Manhattan. The Foundation accepts proposals for its general grantmaking program by invitation only. It typically issues an annual Request for Proposals for which the first step is to submit a letter of inquiry.
