Description

The Foundation seeks to open the doors of opportunity to the disenfranchised, knowing that no community can succeed and thrive if those who live on the margins are not included. It focuses its grantmaking on serving the needs of the disadvantaged in the Baltimore community and the state of Maryland. Of particular emphasis are the complex challenges to break through the cycles of urban poverty. The Foundation places the highest priority on creating solutions that are both innovative and will ensure accountability. The Foundation will consider grants to public and private educational institutions, community service organizations, human service organizations, programs that increase the availability and effectiveness of substance abuse treatment and initiatives focusing on criminal justice, crime reduction, and transitional services for returning ex-offenders. In addition, it will also consider community development projects, workforce development projects, cultural organizations and environmental organizations. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
