The Sand County Foundation, named for conservationist and author Aldo Leopold’s book, Sand County Almanac, has partnered with Sustainable Conservation and the California Farm Bureau Federation, for the 2011 California Leopold Conservation Award. The award recognizes California farmers and ranchers who demonstrate outstanding, sustainable management of natural resources. The Award is presented to honor those landowners who adhere to Leopold’s principles of an ethical relationship between people and the land they own and manage. Nominations are considered in two categories: nurseries and crops or livestock. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
