Description

The Corporation’s charitable giving program supports nonprofits in the communities the company serves in the Washington DC metropolitan area, primarily the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. The Foundation focuses its giving on programs and projects in education, the environment, and health. Grants in the education category focus on activities targeted toward youths in grades K-12. Priority is given to the development of math, science, technology, and business skills. The Corporation also considers funds for arts-related programs. Environment grants support programs that promote cleaner air and water and protect and preserve the ecological system of the region. Health grants give priority to organizations that strive to improve the health and well being of individuals within the community. Emphasis is placed on energy assistance programs for low-income residents to heat and cool their homes and to reduce illness and casualties resulting from exposure to extreme temperatures. Applications are accepted year-round. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
