Description

The Foundation is dedicated to developing positive human potential and enriching the quality of life in the communities it serves. It focuses its grantmaking on the following areas: children, youth, and families; the environment; democratic values; Jewish culture; and miscellaneous. Under children, youth, and families, the Foundation is particularly interested in supporting early childhood development programs, enrichment programs for school-aged youth, reducing domestic violence, improving the welfare of children, and helping to prevent teen parenthood. Under the environment category, grants are awarded for programs reducing toxic emissions, preserving open space, and promoting sustainable energy policy. Democratic values grants support programs that foster a respect for basic democratic principles, including integrity in government, separation of church and state, protection of civil liberties, and the right to privacy. While the Foundation funds organizations that have an impact in the San Francisco Bay Area with an emphasis on Alameda and San Francisco counties and in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul, on occasion it funds national projects that are particularly relevant to the Foundation’s mission. Application instructions and other information can be found on the Web site.
