Gaylord And Dorothy Donnelley Foundation

Category

: Regional

Description

The Foundation was funded by Gaylord Donnelley and his wife. Donnelley is a grandson of the founder of the R.R. Donnelley & Sons printing company. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on two areas: land conservation and artistic vitality for communities in the Chicago region and the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Land conservation grants fund organizations and projects that mesh with one of the following strategies: preserving, restoring, and protecting strategic lands that contribute to the health of the regional ecosystem; building and supporting constituencies that value and engage in land stewardship; and engaging young people. Artistic grants support and promote artistic vitality and increase lasting public access to significant collections that illuminate the region’s artistic, cultural, and historic vitality for area audiences. Trustees review proposals at the Foundation’s March, July, and November board meetings. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
