DescriptionThe Foundation is the corporate foundation of Portland General Electric. Its mission is to improve the quality of life in Oregon. The Foundation’s grantmaking is organized around three themes: education, healthy families, and arts and culture. Education grants support scholarship programs, innovation in classroom instruction, transitional bridges between grade levels, career readiness, and at-risk youth programs. Healthy families grants support programs and organizations that promote access and services in all areas of health including: hunger, support for seniors and the disabled, mental health, homelessness, domestic violence, parenting, foster care, substance abuse, and health care. Under this category the Foundation rarely provides direct funding to hospitals. Arts and culture grants focus on arts education and outreach programs.
