Amgen Award For Science Teaching Excellence

Category: Regional

The Company encourages excellence in science education by recognizing and honoring extraordinary K-12 science teachers in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico who are elevating the level of science literacy through classroom creativity and student motivation. Following a judging process, the Company will choose 34 science teachers for the award. Winners will come from the following states: California, Colorado, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Washington. Teachers in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec are also eligible to apply. Applicants must be full-time classroom teachers in grades K-12. They may teach in either public or private schools but their major responsibilities must include science. Selected winners will receive an unrestricted cash award of $5,000; the winnersí schools will also receive $5,000 in the form of a restricted grant to be used for the expansion or enhancement of science programs, science resources, or professional development of science teachers.
