Description

The Trust’s mission is to support organizations that encourage the principles of individual self-reliance, self sacrifice, thrift, industry, and humility. These organizations should relieve human suffering through scientific research and education regarding disease, assist youth with troubled childhoods and emotional disorders, care for the elderly, and help during the time of natural and “human-made” disasters. The Trust is also interested in organizations that foster individual self-worth and dignity, with a broad emphasis on the classical fine arts; those that develop physical health and spiritual well being through vigorous athletic activity; and those that promote world peace and understanding by improving national and international means of travel by air, rail, and sea. Letters of inquiry requested. Most grants are awarded to Chicago-based nonprofits. Additional information can be found on the Web site. The Trust has a sister trust called the Elizabeth Morse Charitable Trust. While both Trusts have identical mission statements and statements of funding, contacts and locations are different.
