Description

The Foundation’s Champions for Healthy Kids grant program is a partnership between the Foundation, the American Dietetic Association Foundation, and the President’s Council on Physical Fitness. The Foundation awards 50 grants of $10,000 each to community-based groups that develop creative ways to help youth adopt a balanced diet and physically active lifestyle. The Program’s goal is to encourage U.S. communities to improve the eating and physical activity patterns of young people ages 2 to 18. The physical activity component should be measurable and promote either moderate physical activity defined as 30 minutes, 5 days/week or vigorous physical activity defined as 3 days/week for 20 minutes. Local organizations that work with children, including park districts, health departments, government agencies, Native American tribes, municipal organizations, schools, YMCAs, and Boys & Girls Clubs, are encouraged to apply. Additional information including an application form can be found on the Web site.
