Category

: General

Description

The Organization supports Native American groups or organizations working in one of three program areas: environmental justice, building sustainable communities, and nuclear waste/safe clean energy. Environmental justice grants are targeted toward programs that defend and protect homelands and traditional ways of life. Sustainable communities funding support innovative initiatives that foster indigenous thinking and the use of traditional language addressing sustainable community development. The Organization also looks for tools to address conflict resolution and learning principles of de-colonization. Nuclear waste grants address fossil fuel, mega-hydro, nuclear power, nuclear waste issues, and promoting alternative, clean renewable energy initiatives. Priority is given to Native grassroots, community-based organizations, and groups with a lack of access to federal and/or tribal funding.
