Americana Foundation

Description

The Foundation supports educational and advocacy programs that address the preservation of American agriculture, the conservation of natural resources, and the protection and presentation of expressions of America’s heritage. The Foundation focuses on two program areas of protection, preservation, and education: American heritage expressed through its material culture, and natural resources and agriculture through land use and growth management. American heritage grants educate, preserve, and present artifacts, works of art, classic furniture, buildings, cultural landscapes, photographs, and documents. Natural resources and agriculture grants are limited to organizations in the state of Michigan for several types of projects. Grants are awarded for educational programs that protect prime agricultural land, open space, and natural resources; basic education and information about tools for managing growth through integrated planning; and zoning and the development of healthy communities. Grants are also awarded for partnerships of environmental and agricultural organizations with other stakeholder groups working to protect agricultural land, open space, and natural resources. The Foundation also supports Tollgate Farm, the Foundation’s home. Organizations that operate or are located in the state of Michigan are a priority. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
