Law Society Charity

DescriptionSet up in 1974 as a charitable fund, the Charity is the philanthropic arm of the Society. It supports organizations whose work is related to the law and the legal profession and whose activities would be likely to benefit from funds made available on behalf of lawyers. The Charity supports nonprofits whose principal aims are to support members of the profession in need; charitable projects that will be supported by local law societies and groups; work done internationally to promote human rights; and joint ventures with other charities particularly with the charitable arms of firms of solicitors (lawyers). It also supports general promotion of legal education and pro bono assistance for people facing capital punishment.
