DescriptionThe Foundation was established by the president of the Ash Grove Cement Company. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on four areas: higher education, youth services, arts and culture, and health care and hospitals. Higher education grants are awarded to community colleges, private colleges, and public universities. Youth Services grants support human services nonprofits, especially those that provide essential services to youth and families. Arts and culture grants support projects in museums, performing arts centers, and horticultural entities. Health care and hospital grants are awarded for building and improving facilities. The Foundation focuses on supporting bricks and mortar projects, awarding grants to nonprofits in the Kansas City, Mo., region and other areas where the Company does business. Eligible programs are in Western Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, and Western Iowa, and to a lesser extent, in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Montana. Grant proposals from organizations located outside of these areas are unlikely to receive consideration. Proposals are accepted via e-mail. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
