Category: LGBTQIA+
DescriptionThe Foundation focuses its grantmaking on two program areas: lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) program and the Great Apes program. The goal of the LGBT program is to advance social justice inclusive of sexual orientation, gender identity, and race. The Foundation advances LGBT rights in Michigan, nationally, and internationally. Michigan grants seek to achieve equality and respect for LGBT people and advance racial justice. Michigan remains the only U.S. state in which the Foundation has a dedicated program. National grants seek to advance LGBT rights in the United States. International grants aim to advance LGBT human rights in global policy arenas, to build the capacity of pro-LGBT advocates in Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, and to substantially increase the funding for organizations that work on LGBT international human rights. The Foundation awards religion and values grants to achieve LGBT moral equality and racial justice, sexual orientation, and gender identity program grants to build the power, voice, and leadership of LGBT people of color. Additional information including a description of the Great Apes grant program is available on the Web site.
