National Endowment For The Arts
Category: Arts & Culture
DescriptionThe Endowment’s American Masterpieces: Chamber Music Initiative celebrates chamber music in the United States. Through performances and related educational activities, the Initiative encourages Americans across the country to hear high quality American chamber music. Here, chamber music is defined as one player to a part, performed without a conductor, with between two and ten players in a group; duos must perform as an ensemble of equal partners. Commissions and premier performances are not eligible. Grants are available for chamber music performances held in conjunction with educational activities that will highlight specific repertoire by American composers, and enable ensembles to engage with communities in a variety of settings. The Endowment is particularly interested in projects that have at least one performance and two educational activities. Projects may be initiated by eligible organizations of all sizes, genres, and aesthetics such as ensembles, presenters, festivals, colleges and universities. The performances and educational opportunities should take place by Sept. 30, 2011. Grants require a nonfederal match of at least 1:1. Additional information can be found on the Web site. Applicants are required to submit their information on the grants.gov Web site.
