Description

The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the paper Company. It supports a wide range of organizations that improve the quality of life in communities where the Company operates. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on the four Es: education, enrichment, environment, and entrepreneurship. The Company believes that these four Es are the foundation of a vibrant community. Education grants invest in innovative and results-driven educational initiatives that the Foundation feels will make a measurable difference in GP communities. This includes community-based educational programs that help youth transition from school to the workforce; provide employees with job readiness training; scholarships; and technical programs. Enrichment grants fund programs that enrich the communities in long-term, measurable ways with an emphasis on community safety and affordable housing. Environment grants are focused on sound science and scientific institutions to help sustain natural resources and resolve environmental concerns. Entrepreneurship grants are targeted toward self-sufficiency and economic empowerment. The Foundation partners with local K-12 schools and colleges/universities that encourage and inspire a student’s entrepreneurial spirit and offer incentives such as accreditation and/or certificate programs. Of particular interest are those programs that help a student transition from a classroom environment to a real working business model. An eligibility survey can be found on the Web site.
