Description

The Fund supports men, women, and children affected by HIV/AIDS globally. The Fund’s U.S. grantmaking program has two distinct emphases: community grants for U.S. programs providing food and nutrition and housing services to people living with HIV/AIDS and special initiatives that focus on underserved populations and specific geographic locations. The Housing Community grants support programs, including, but not limited to, short-term (up to 12 months) transitional housing services, short-term emergency housing, and scattered housing sites. Priority is given to agencies that offer comprehensive services designed to help individuals manage their long-term housing needs once the short-term crisis has been addressed. Organizations that provide services to those affected by HIV/AIDS and have been in operation for at least two years are eligible to apply. The Housing Community grants online application is available on the Web site beginning March and is due June 15, 2009. The size of the grant is based on a number of factors including general operating budget, the number of clients served, the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the particular community, and proven program effectiveness. The size of the program and the likelihood of ongoing support from other sources are also considered. An eligibility questionnaire and additional information are available on the Web site.
