Preserve New York
Preserve New York, a grant program of the Preservation League of New York State and the New York State Council for the Arts, provides annual support for cultural resource surveys, historic structure reports, and historic landscape reports. In 2009, the League encourages projects that advance the preservation of neighborhoods that quality for the NYS Historic Homeowners Rehabilitation Tax Credit. Other projects of interest include the preservation of architecture and landscapes of the recent past, preserving historic bridges and transportation corridors, continuing the use of historic municipal buildings, or supporting Main Street revitalization. The Program is interested in applicants willing to pursue designation on the local, state, or national register of historic places if not already designated, have local support, will result in significant restoration or planning work, and have the ability to both carry out the project and raise sufficient funds to complete it. The grants do not support any capital or bricks and mortar funding. State agencies and religious institutions are not eligible to apply. Prospective applicants must call the League staff to discuss their potential application. Additional information is available on the Web site.
