James Irvine Foundation
Category: Regional
DescriptionThe Foundation’s Creative Connections Fund supports creativity and the expansion of diverse, relevant cultural offerings in local communities across California and primarily outside San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties. Of particular interest are small and midsize arts organizations with a diversity of projects and ideas. Since small organizations play an important role in the arts ecosystem, supporting grassroots creativity and adding to the cultural offerings of the neighborhoods and cities they serve, which, in turn, add to the cultural vibrancy of the state. Projects should create new work or offer a contemporary reinterpretation of classic work. They should also involve individual artists in collaboration with a local nonprofit. Projects should broaden, deepen, or diversify participation. Applicant organizations must be located in California. No more than 50 percent of the applying organization’s revenues may come from government sources, and the organization must have annual revenue of at least $100,000. The applicant’s project grant request can be for no more than 10 percent of their annual organizational budget, up to a maximum of $50,000. Find more information on the Web site.
