Charles Edison Fund

Description

The Fund targets its grantmaking toward the areas of medical research, science education, and historic preservation. Founded by the son of inventor, Thomas Alva Edison, the Fund is a “seed money” organization. The Fund awards grants primarily to organizations located in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area although it has made exceptions in the past. Requests should be submitted on the organization’s letterhead and signed by an official on behalf of the governing board. The Fund meets three times a year, usually in February or March, June, and December. Requests should be submitted at least three weeks prior to the meeting.
