DescriptionCreated in 2002, the Foundation is a “practice of philanthropy in the small.” It makes grants and micro grants to individuals and organizations around the world addressing local issues with local solutions. The Foundation undertakes projects located in areas and communities where the natural or social environments are under stress. In its activities, the Foundation takes a bottom-up approach, making modest contributions of resources to individuals and organizations that are addressing local needs. The Foundation values modest and mindful action, non-violent response and action, collaborative relationships, sustainable human-nature interactions, as well as social and economic fairness.
