Walgreen Company

Description

The Company’s grantmaking is focused primarily on nonhospital-based health agencies. Health is the Company’s major area of interest and the major share of its annual contributions budget is allocated to programs that address the health needs of its customers. Some funding is earmarked for the Company’s One-on-One tutorial programs in inner city neighborhoods where Walgreens operates. A small portion is also allocated for eligible community and social service agencies that serve areas where the Company has a significant presence. Priority is given to requests that most closely reflect the demographics of its customers and employees. National support is given to previously selected national nonprofits that focus on medical research, treatment, and service for the alleviation of complications caused by a specific disease. The Company’s contributions budget is divided by nonprofits in local communities where it has a presence and in metro Chicago where the Company headquarters is. A grant request form is available on the Web site.
