Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
Category: Health
DescriptionThe Foundation’s Active Living Research and Healthy Eating Research programs are national programs that support research on environmental and policy strategies to promote healthy eating among children with the goal of eliminating childhood obesity. The Program’s Rapid Response grants support time-sensitive, opportunistic studies to evaluate changes in policies or environments with the potential to reach children who are at highest risk for obesity. Of particular interest are programs that address the issue among low-income and racial and ethnic populations at the highest risk for developing obesity including African-American, Latino, Native American, Asian American, and Pacific Islander children ages 3 to 18. These children also live in low-income communities or communities with limited access to affordable healthy foods and/or safe opportunities for physical activity. Research projects may focus solely on physical activity (including sedentary behavior) or solely on healthy eating or a combination of both focuses. A letter of intent can be found on the Web site. The date is for full proposals. Additional information on funded projects can be found on the Web site.
