Herb Block Foundation

Category

: Democracy & Government

Description

The Foundation’s Defending Basic Freedoms grant program seeks proposals to safeguard the basic freedoms guaranteed in the U.S. Bill of Rights. Founded by Washington Post's editorial cartoonist, Herb Block, the Foundation encourages proposals that help eliminate all forms of prejudice and discrimination, and those that assist government agencies to be more accountable to the public. Of particular interest are anti-discrimination projects that involve joint efforts of two or more organizations. The Foundation will also consider contemporary societal issues that may arise. Grants may not be used for lobbying or other partisan purposes. Applicants are asked to submit a letter of inquiry.
