Description

The Foundation is continuing its Celebrating Communities of Color grants program for 2008. The program awards 50 $10,000 grants to nonprofits in the seven-county, Twin Cities metro area serving communities of color. Organizations must have nonprofit status or be a school or unit of government. They must be located in and serving diverse populations in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, or Washington counties, and be applying for project support. The program does not award grants for operating or capital support. The grants focus on four areas: youth nutrition and fitness, education, arts and culture, and social services. Youth nutrition and fitness grants support innovative programs that help improve these behaviors. Education grants support efforts that emphasize student academic achievement, particularly at the K-12 level. Arts and culture grants support organizations that provide innovative performing arts and cultural programs evidenced through innovation, program quality, and contribution to their community. Social services grants support programs that strengthen families and promote a safe, nurturing environment for children and youth. Additional information, including an online application, can be found on the Web site.
