ARCUS FOUNDATION

The Foundation has two funding interests: programs and organizations supporting the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community and the Foundation’s Great Apes Fund. The Foundation focuses much of its GLBT grantmaking in Michigan, but it also supports efforts with national scope and impact to improve the quality of life of the GLBT community nationwide. FRONTLINE AIDS

The Organization's Emergency Response grant is designed to help lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people or men who have sex with men, who are struggling to get urgent access to HIV services. Activities that the grant supports include relocation of premises following forced eviction of community-based organizations or service providers that support LGBT people and their access to HIV services; post-violence psychosocial support; proving urgent HIV medication, and emergency safety measures for individuals or service providers that ensure access to HIV services can continue. FUND FOR TRANS GENERATIONS

The Fund, housed at Borealis Philanthropy, is committed to providing rapid-response funding to trans-led organizations responding to emerging needs in their communities. The Fund knows that the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular, is still disproportionately impacting trans community, especially Black and Indigenous people of color, and sick and disabled communities; the elderly, migrants, sexual assault survivors, sex workers, and people with low-income, as well as those living at the intersections. Of particular interest are those that increase civic participation by LGBT people; secure equal rights and responsibilities for LGBT people; and increase acceptance, visibility and understanding of LGBT people through partnerships with non-LGBT allied organizations. The Organization is responding to the COVID-19 crisis around the world by supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, intersex, queer (LGBTIQ) organizations who are serving people impacted by the virus while facing an uncertain future themselves. The Foundation was developed by Paul Rapoport, a founder of Gay Men’s Health Crisis and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Community Center of New York. The Foundation, which will cease making grants on June 30, 2014 and close its doors a year later, focuses its grantmaking on the following areas: transgender communities of color; LGTBQ (Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Bisexual, Queer) youth of color who are age 24 and under; and LGTB seniors of color age 60 and older. THE CALAMUS FOUNDATION

The Foundation, created in 1994 by Saul Kaplan, makes grants to qualifying charitable organizations for programs and activities in two areas: the care and support for individuals with HIV, and services to the gay and lesbian community that promote and support the community’s formation, growth, identity, general well being, and social and legal rights. THE COLLIN HIGGINS FOUNDATION

Established by screenwriter, director, and producer Colin Higgins, the Foundation supports organizations that build the power and leadership of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth ages 13 to 24. Organizations should have grassroots organizing and/or comprehensive leadership development; work with historically underprivileged constituencies; strive to bring about institutional change in the legal, political, economic, or cultural structures that impact LGBT youth; and work to link LGBT youth to other organizations and social justice movements. THE HOLLYFIELD FOUNDATION

Priority is given to projects specifically addressing the issues of discrimination/equal rights for sexual minorities; organizations focusing on tolerance of sexual minorities (including voter education); and projects which target eradication of discrimination against individuals with HIV/AIDS by providing legal and/or educational assistance.
