JOB DESCRIPTION

Foster Care Casework Manager

Location: Birmingham, AL

Status: Full-time

Position Summary:

Provides social service casework consultation and on-going support, direction, and training on foster care cases for the State Casework Supervisors (CWS) assigned under the supervision of the State Director. The State Director remains the primary supervisor for the CWS. Upholds and conducts foster care social service practice utilizing best practice from a biblical worldview.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work
  • 2 years paid employment in a child placement agency
  • Graduate or certified social work license from the applicable state board of licensing

Responsibilities: 

  • To be a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ to co-workers, clients and ministry partners
  • While adhering to excellent social service standards, equip State CWS to implement social service practice in foster care casework in compliance with Lifeline’s Core Values and Ministry Goals through consistent support, training and development
  • Supports the social service operations team with onboarding, training, and material development to meet agency, state, and Lifeline standards for foster care, while ensuring State CWS have support and understanding to carry out social service tasks
  • Consults with State CWS in upholding agency, state and federal regulations and staying informed of changing regulations in each state
  • Provide consultation to the State CWS on difficult assessments, challenging cases, and agency-wide protocols for foster care
  • Equip and empower State CWS to support and lead their social service teams in a way that provides consistency of practice for foster care and ensures Lifeline’s foster care procedures are implemented across assigned states.
  • Works to create consistency among all foster care practice in various states while still meeting state regulations
  • Regularly audits foster care files for documents, case notes, missing data in SAM.
  • Works with Director of Foster Care on manuals, procedures, and forms.
  • Provides oversight and communication to State CWS for changes and procedures within foster care cases within their state.
  • Maintains a regular communication with the Director of Foster Care for learning and developing changes in foster care and to receive guidance as needed with challenging situations, difficult cases, etc. when additional guidance, assistance or support is needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other program and state leaders to ensure program goals and best practices are implemented into the ministry’s social service practice.
  • Identifies foster care training needs and works with other foster care leadership along with the operations team to ensure those needs are addressed
  • Partners with the State Director in assessing foster care social service practice in their state and interviewing and hiring casework personnel in the states this position supports.

Secondary Responsibilities: 

  • Able to instruct and train in both continuing education and training
  • Maintains good working relationships with the state directors, leadership and staff, including resolving all disputes in a Biblically prescribed
  • Represents the ministry in a professional manner in and away from the
  • Assisting in agency-related events, including the annual staff retreat, the annual dinner, anniversary celebrations, across all Lifeline programs
  • Maintains Social Work License and state-required annual training: hours

Work Environment: 

  • This position operates in a professional office environment. 
  • Occasional travel may be required.     

State Specific Requirements: 

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work 
  • Two (2) years paid employment in a child placement agency 
  • Graduate or certified social work license from the applicable state board of licensing 
  • Complete annual training/CEU’s as determined by State regulations and Hague requirements, whichever is greater.
