JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

The ELT Outreach Specialist (OS) is responsible for participating in outreach/recruitment activities and events on behalf of the FH/DES ASA program.  The OS identifies and recruits new students through community partnerships and social media promotions.  The OS seeks community resources to help reduce student barriers to learning English. Provides assistance with services including resource navigation, information and referral services, and support services.  The OS assists with the registration process and the trimester and semi-annual reports for the Department of Economic Security.  Creates and maintain relationships with students, instructors, case managers, and other community stakeholders to support student success, retention, and progression toward student goals.  Performs other duties as needed.

Job Qualifications:  

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related.
  • Knowledge of technologies used in education.
  • Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office products, internet, and electronic communication (e-mail, social networking, etc.)
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as managing files and records and other office procedures
  • Eligible for IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • preferable to be fluent in Dari or Pashto.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Public Speaking experience, ability to deliver presentations to groups.
  • Knowledge of educational and career planning
  • Knowledge of resources available in the community
  • Ability to express ideas clearly both orally and in writing.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Student outreach and recruitment
  • Maintain attendance database.
  • Contact students as necessary.
  • Monitor student progress.
  • Participate in professional learning and other team initiatives/projects.
  • Register and test incoming students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
