JOB DESCRIPTION

School Bus Driver (Full-Time) 

Friendly House, Inc., is a 501(c) 3 non-profit agency located in Phoenix, Arizona whose primary function is to provide a variety of educational and social service programming aimed at addressing the needs of low-income individuals and families, vulnerable populations and diverse communities. Additionally, Friendly House operates a charter school, Academia del Pueblo, with the mission to provide an academic environment which promotes a culture of high expectations to students from diverse cultures. Friendly House was organized in 1920 as the Phoenix Americanization Committee by a group of Phoenix citizens with the assistance of the United States Department of Education. In our 100-year history, the work of Friendly House has resulted in building resilient communities that are helping to spur economic development, stabilize neighborhoods and revitalize our city.

 

Position Summary

This position operates and maintains school buses for the purpose of transporting students and other persons(s) in a safe manner from home to school and back, and to and from educational activities.

 

Position Qualifications

 

Minimum Education: High School or G.E.D

Preferred Education: Advanced Driver Training Certification(s) High School or G.E.D

Minimum Experience: 2 years of School Bus Driving Experience

Preferred Experience: 2-5 years of School Bus Driving Experience

Required Certifications/Licensure:

  • Valid Arizona Commercial Driver’s License with passenger P & S endorsements.
  • Arizona School Bus Driver Certificate

 

Required Course(s) Training:

  • First Aid certification and CPR training
  • Department of Transportation health card
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Special Skills:

  • Must possess skill in the operation of school bus and bus equipment.
  • Must understand and comply with all traffic laws.
  • Must have exemplary driving record and proof must be obtained from the Motor Vehicle Records annually.
  • Must maintain an exceptionally clean, accident-free driving history.
  • Must pass a physical examination annually.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screen urinalysis annually or as requested.
  • Must be able to push, pull or lift weights up to 50 pounds.
